Oregon governor announces outdoor mask mandate

Oregon Gov. Kate Brown (D) on Tuesday announced a new statewide outdoor mask mandate requiring people to wear masks in most outdoor settings regardless of vaccination status.
State of play: Starting Friday, Oregonians will be required to wear masks outdoors when physical distancing is not possible. While the mandate does not apply to outdoor gatherings in private residences, masks are "strongly recommended" when people from different households cannot remain socially distanced.

Luckily most will follow the rules if mandated. It will be much harder to enforce the outdoor mandate as it was the stores who enforced the indoor one and they hated it.

Armies of workers were in the supers with cleaning carts, vapor, vacuums. I even saw a guy with a backpack model going from store to store to disinfect shopping cart handles.

(11,451 posts)Counties like mine Jackson County have low vaccination rate due to cities that are mostly republicans. Our hospitals are full, we are getting hundreds of new cases daily and I bet she wants to slow it down.
As indoor masks went back on you can see lots of people gathering outdoors, in parks, in play areas, baseball fields, etc. I am on Oregon coast for 3 weeks in airbnb, we are cooking our own food or few times to go, but see many eating inside restaurants, crowds walking down small streets by shops unmasked until they go in.
And some beaches are crowded. I heard a guy near entrance coughing and sneezing few days ago. I was glad I keep my n95 in pocket and I put on to quickly go by him.
