Lars Vilks: Muhammad cartoonist reportedly killed in car accident

A Swedish cartoonist who depicted the Prophet Muhammad as a dog has died in a traffic accident, local media say.

Lars Vilks was reportedly travelling in a civilian police vehicle which collided with a truck near the town of Markaryd in southern Sweden.

Two police officers were also killed and the truck driver was taken to hospital.

Vilks, 75, lived under police protection after being subjected to death threats over the cartoon.

A highly educated artist, but his only hint of fame was by engaging in stupid provocations against the Muslim faith.

8. As a Cultural Christian I know a lot about the Christian faith ...

... and as a doubting Thomas I have looked at other religions as well. But MOST Christians talking shit about Muslims has absolutely no idea about that faith.

Some well meaning people says fx that Muslims should reject the idea of Jihad, which is as stupid as asking Christians to reject The Ten Commandments. But both are just ancient words, and just like no Christian country has ever taken the Commandment "Thou shalt not kill" seriously, most Muslims pick and chose among their commandments. Including Jihad which, except among some hotheads, is just the daily struggle to live out the Muslim faith - and not a cry for some Holy War.......

People doing evil shit should be harshly criticized for their actions, and I do that a lot. Whatever faith they might use as an excuse is part of this, but not the main subject. Like when George W. Bush called for a crusade against terrorism, I do not use that to endless tirades about what evils Christianity makes people do.
