Boeing Co. is dealing with a new defect on its 787 Dreamliner, the latest in a series of production slip-ups that have delayed aircraft deliveries and drawn increased U.S. government scrutiny.

The new problem involves certain titanium parts that are weaker than they should be on 787s built over the past three years, people familiar with the matter said. The discovery is among other Dreamliner snafus that have left Boeing stuck with more than $25 billion of the jets in its inventory.

1. So how much of the plane was built in China?

Seems since Boeing moved major manufacturing of parts to China they have been having problems.

That deal they made with China made the CEOs multi millionaires but seems not to have done much for quality. But not to worry, the Chinese will soon far exceed Boeing's capabilities.

They discovered the problem and stopped production until they could figure out what went wrong and determine how to make a correction.

Full disclosure: I do not directly own shares of BA, but I do own it indirectly through mutual funds.

TWSJ article might not even know which part it is, plus I'm not that curious yet.

Sign in with your card number and PIN. Just about every library "subscribes" to newspapers electronically. If the library is open today, give them a call. Then can guide you through the procedure.

TWSJ. has an exclusive on this story. It's not in the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, at least not yet.

Lots of newspapers have paywalls, it'll be nice to access the 1 or 2 articles I'd like to read a week.

10. Boeing said the parts were provided Leonardo SpA, which bought the items from Italy-based [MPS].

The parts include fittings that help secure the floor beam in one fuselage section, as well as other fittings, spacers, brackets, and clips within other assemblies.
