President Joe Biden will embark on a three-leg trip to Europe starting at the end of October that will include a Vatican meeting with Pope Francis, the White House announced Thursday.

The president and first lady Jill Biden plan to travel to Rome in conjunction with the G-20 summit on Oct. 30-31. While there, Biden will also hold bilateral meetings with other world leaders, details of which the White House said would be made available closer to the event.

Prior to the G-20 summit, Biden, the second Catholic president in U.S. history, will visit the Vatican for an audience with Pope Francis. The confab will cover “working together on efforts grounded in respect for fundamental human dignity, including ending the COVID-19 pandemic, tackling the climate crisis, and caring for the poor,” according to the White House.

Francis has publicly embraced Covid-19 vaccinations at a time when some religious conservatives have raised moral qualms with the vaccines — primarily due to remote links to abortion-derived cells during the development process. Earlier this week, the archbishop of the U.S. military said Catholic service members could refuse the mandatory vaccination on religious grounds, highlighting the ongoing split within the church.

1. What Religious Grounds?

Pope Francis has publicly embraced these vaccinations so does this archbishop think he outranks the Pope? This is a perfect example of why our Founding Fathers saw the need for separation of church and state. Without that church will alway try to dominate state.

It is time to put this archbishop in front of a Courts Martial because you just can't have this kind of insubordination in the military ranks.

2. I've always seen the Catholic Church as sort of a franchise system...

As long as you cover then basic requirements, the Vatican doesn’t care what else you do.

3. Biden Has a Right

As president and as a Catholic, Biden has the right to visit the Pope who is a great moral leader in this world. I may not agree with everything the church has done but I respect Pope Francis as a moral beacon for the welfare of the poor. So as an agnostic protestant and a democrat I think the visit to Pope Francis should be viewed as a positive event. I mean is this country still stuck in being anti Catholic like the 1950s. We all have a right our religion or to no religion at all. This is Biden's and it should be respected.
