Trump criticizes media for treating Powell 'beautifully' in death
Source: The Hill
Former President Donald Trump lambasted the media on Tuesday for what he said was too favorable coverage of former Secretary of State Colin Powell after his death on Monday.
"Wonderful to see Colin Powell, who made big mistakes on Iraq and famously, so-called weapons of mass destruction, be treated in death so beautifully by the Fake News Media. Hope that happens to me someday," Trump said in a statement.
Trump referred to Powell as "a classic RINO" referring to the acronym "Republican in name only."
"He made plenty of mistakes, but anyway, may he rest in peace!" Trump added.

Of course everything has to be about him, but what exactly is he saying? That he himself has made big mistakes?
This whole quote with the "wonderful", "famously" , "so-called" and "beautifully" is basic TFG mental pathology.
But he is just attacking CP 'cuz he's black, and dead and cant fight back is the cowardly truth

(24,288 posts)The insults against Powell aren't all that surprising, given the person who is conveying the message.....but that phrase "hope that happens to me someday" conveys some illuminating words into TFG's psyche and maybe an acknowledgement of guilt that his legacy was fully destroyed by his own words and deeds.

And that last group will attend only so they can look in the casket to ensure he's in it.

Stern asked Trump directly if he supported going to war with Iraq, and Trump hesitantly responded, Yeah, I guess so.
...
Trump had a financial interest in opposing the war in the weeks leading up to the war. The Newark Star-Ledger, New Jerseys largest newspaper, reported on March 12, 2003 that Trump Hotels and Casino Resorts planned to sell $485 million in junk-grade bonds this week in an effort to avoid a cash crunch later this year. The uncertainty of war complicated Trumps bond sale.
...
Trump expressed concerns about the cost of the war soon after it started. If Trump did support the war, he turned on it quickly. As the timeline below shows, Trump in July said that he wished the money being spent in Iraq could be spent in New York City. By November, he talked about the tremendous cost of the war and the very, very unpleasant surprises in Iraq.
https://www.factcheck.org/2016/02/donald-trump-and-the-iraq-war/
So for him, the only problem was the cost. Especially personal.
Ocelot II
(115,589 posts)what Powell did or didn't do wrt Iraq. TFG couldn't care less about Iraq or Powell's or anybody else's foreign policy mistakes; he cares only about their opinion of him. And Powell was extremely, even blisteringly critical of TFG. That's all that matters to him and it's why he issued his remarks trashing Powell, just pretending TFG cared about Iraq, which he didn't.
