EXCLUSIVE: Jan. 6 Protest Organizers Say They Participated in Dozens of Planning Meetings With Members of Congress and White House Staff
Two sources are communicating with House investigators and detailed a stunning series of allegations to Rolling Stone, including a promise of a blanket pardon from the Oval Office
As the House investigation into the Jan. 6 attack heats up, some of the planners of the pro-Trump rallies that took place in Washington, D.C., have begun communicating with congressional investigators and sharing new information about what happened when the former presidents supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol. Two of these people have spoken to Rolling Stone extensively in recent weeks and detailed explosive allegations that multiple members of Congress were intimately involved in planning both Trumps efforts to overturn his election loss and the Jan. 6 events that turned violent.
Rolling Stone separately confirmed a third person involved in the main Jan. 6 rally in D.C. has communicated with the committee. This is the first report that the committee is hearing major new allegations from potential cooperating witnesses. While there have been prior indications that members of Congress were involved, this is also the first account detailing their purported role and its scope. The two sources also claim they interacted with members of Trumps team, including former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, who they describe as having had an opportunity to prevent the violence.
Judge Ordered Jan. 6 Rioter Not to Associate with Proud Boys. He Then Spoke at Rally Attended by Proud Boys
The two sources, both of whom have been granted anonymity due to the ongoing investigation, describe participating in dozens of planning briefings ahead of that day when Trump supporters broke into the Capitol as his election loss to President Joe Biden was being certified.
I remember Marjorie Taylor Greene specifically, the organizer says. I remember talking to probably close to a dozen other members at one point or another or their staffs.

(3,467 posts)the front page of every newspaper, the start of every newscast and folks actually getting locked up then maybe I'll think this story has legs and could actually be meaningful towards the next federal election. Until then, anything coming out of the Jan 6th investigation is just a circle j-rk.
Sorry but the M$M and right-wing propaganda machine have kept the Jan 6th story line at a very low boil up to this point. I don't think this will ever reach the fury the Watergate hearing created.

(20,849 posts)why add another layer? Why can't these 2 sources go directly to the FBI which has more clout than the select committee? Time is extremely important in these cases. So these 2 sources work out a time to meet with the select committee, then the committee has to vote to send the information to DOJ, then I suppose the whole House has to vote on the matter. Cut out the middle man. These 2 people should be made to go directly to the FBI. Someone explain to me why I am wrong, this referral shit before acting is BS.

(20,849 posts)we are totally fucked. For crying out loud there is an FBI tip line people can call. Garland can do what Barr did, appoint a special prosecutor and give him resources to look into this coup. We will not hold people accountable if DOJ isn't 100% on board. The select committee doesn't have the authority to file criminal complaints to make people appear before grand juries. We need DOJ to act.
Again I ask, why can't these 2 sources go directly to the FBI? This doesn't involve someone breaking the law against Congress refusing a subpoena. I just don't get it. Will some legal person here explain why I am wrong.

(2,686 posts)and there is little resistance from the Dems and no interest by the media. MSM is playing the coup very softly because it does not want to upset the Fascist Party, period. It doesnt want to upset the Fascist Party because the MSM corporate ownership is fascist to the marrow, period.
What Im saying is the goddamned MSM is playing soft footsies with the coup planners because they share the beliefs and hopes and dreams of the Fascist Party for a one part system run by themselves (the corporate plutocrats) and their paid for politicians.
SCOTUS is fascist-dominated; the GOP is thoroughly fascist; and we have a DOJ that seems honest, but timid in the face of the coup.
In short: we, the people (excluding the white supremacist, Nazi-leaning, fine people) are pretty much screwed.
(Our DOJs reluctance to go after the Fat Man is like a lawman catching a man holding a bloody knife, with blood all over his shirt, face, and arms, and a cut up, bloody body at his feet turning away and asking his partner if there was any actionable evidence at the scene -- all while the killer walks off into the night. Sad.)

(2,173 posts)This needs to be in a public hearing on live tv.
Of course, why were blanket pardon offered?
They knew what they were doing was totally illegal.
Hopefully, the FBI will have phone location data of MTG, gym, gaetz, etc that corroborate. Plus I am sure there are texts and calls.
But if this is not done in open hearings, no one will read the report.
