Greene fined a third time for refusing to wear mask on House floor
Source: The Hill
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) has been fined a third time for refusing to wear a mask on the House floor, the House Ethics Committee disclosed on Monday.
Greene has now racked up a total of $5,500 worth of mask fines this year.
Under the rules that Democrats established in January to enforce compliance with the mask requirement on the House floor, members are fined $500 for the first offense and $2,500 for subsequent offenses.
Greene and several other Republicans were fined $500 in May for protesting the ongoing mask requirement at a time when the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention had advised that vaccinated people could forgo masks. But Greene has declined to confirm whether she is vaccinated and has been suspended from Twitter for promoting misinformation about COVID-19 vaccines.

(14,173 posts)More than enough to pay off such a low fine.
As usual, Democrats don't come down hard enough. Just like going after the Jan 6 planners. Make a rule about not being allowed to enter after so many infractions of the rules.
For once I want to hear Republicans truly angry about Democrats going too far. I know they scream a lot anyways about any tiny perceived mistake by Democrats, but its all usually invented anger because its usually about something they are guilty of 10x more.
But I wanted and still want Democrats to be shouting out about traitors, and about Facism, and about the coming elections about the very survival of the democracy if Trump or a Trumpist wins. How much of a precipice we are on.
I honestly think that if the Democrats are scared about how Americans will react to them being more dramatic and forceful against this assault on democracy, I think they are wrong. They are reading too many Washington bubble press releases. I think a lot of Americans, independents and others, are just waiting to see a more bold Democratic response, and will not be impressed with some kind of luke warm "move forward" approach.
They seem to want to stop aiming the gun at the enemy because it looks too threatening and impolite to point a weapon, and so instead point it at their own foot and shoot it.

(22,631 posts)I blame it on her ears. Surely, I'm not the only one who has noticed how low set her ears are. The darn mask probably keeps falling off. She'll need a drastic 'body mod' approach to solve the problem. Did I say drastic? I meant DRASTIC.

(5,117 posts)Make her serve some homeless downtown. Make her clean out a few ditches. Also, make the fine a sliding scale, and make sure that things go into the 'ten percent of income' range once someone has posted over one million dollars in income for that year. See if that has an effect.
