Kansas City Will Get a New Kind of Stadium--Just for Women's Soccer

Billions of dollars have been spent to build stadiums for American mens professional sports teams.
Soon, there will be one built for a womens team.
Owners of Kansas Citys National Womens Soccer League team announced theyre building a $70 million, 11,000-seat stadium to open in 2024. It appears to be the first top-division soccer stadium constructed for a womens team.
There are incredibly talented female soccer players in this country and in the world, and people want to pay money to come and watch them and support them, said Angie Long, one of the teams owners. That isnt going away. Thats growing.

Also, Mrs Mahomes is an owner.

(6,477 posts)We also have world class preparation systems for Women's soccer, equal to preparation for Men's professional sports. NWSA certainly has a claim for being an elite league in world soccer in a way that MLS doesn't. I think there should be dedicated Women's soccer stadiums throughout the country, and more teams, please!
