MrBeast Ranks as Highest-Paid YouTube Star Ever, Earning an Estimated $54 Million in 2021

MrBeast, aka Jimmy Donaldson, had a very, very good 2021 — the YouTube maestro pulled down $54 million in gross revenue last year, more than any YouTube creator in history, according to new estimates by Forbes magazine.

Coming in behind MrBeast was Jake Paul, the controversial YouTuber/boxer, who earned an estimated $45 million last year; game vlogger/comedian/podcaster Markiplier, with $38 million; and longtime comedy duo Rhett & Link, whose “Good Mythical Morning” talk show on YouTube this week celebrated its 10-year anniversary, at $30 million.

MrBeast, 23, is famous for his big-money giveaways, stunts and charitable initiatives — including his viral reenactment of Netflix hit “Squid Game,” which awarded the winner a $446,000 prize. His YouTube channel currently has more than 88 million subscribers. Donaldson heads a 50-employee company that last year launched MrBeast Burger, a virtual restaurant chain, and encompasses Beast Interactive Games (which created his popular “Finger on the App” contests).

In 2021, Donaldson took home the YouTube Streamy Awards creator of the year trophy. He also teamed with YouTube creator Mark Rober for #TeamSeas, a fundraising initiative to raise $30 million to remove trash from bodies of water around the world.

The top 10 highest-paid YouTube stars of 2021, according to Forbes estimates:

1. MrBeast – $54 million
2. Jake Paul – $45 million
3. Markiplier – $38 million
4. Rhett & Link – $30 million
5. Unspeakable – $28.5 million
6. Like Nastya – $28 million
7. Ryan Kaji (Ryan’s World) – $27 million
8. Dude Perfect – $20 million
9. Logan Paul – $18 million
10. Preston – $16 million

1. That's a lot of money.

The few people I know of on that top 10 list annoy me. Is that the key to great success? Be really annoying? I could so totally do that. Hmmm, I need to find my webcam.

24. I've heard of Jake Paul and Logan Paul.

But that's only because they're trashy people. Of course.

6. This isn't irrelevant, dunno why people are dismissing it. Streamers support good causes. I am one.

I am a steamer and video creator, myself. A great many of us do found our channels with the aim of supporting some form of charitable cause, if not more than one, and I've been fortunate enough to be able to do that for my fellow disabled/chronically ill gamers.

Very, very few streamers make enough money off of doing it to live off of it (despite it taking a lot of cash and time investment to get started with). However, there are a lot of us who make what we can of it to not only help ourselves and entertain viewers, but to support good causes.

The pandemic has been an unusual time and probably accounts for higher profits across the board, and the record profits mentioned in the article. People aren't going out, so they're getting their entertainment and socialization watching streams and videos which interest them.

I'll also get in the plug here, because it's obligatory at this point. If you like video games, and want to help me (I'm disabled, dad has stage 4 cancer, mom's a three time heart attack subscriber - I won't deny need for help) and support disabled/chronically ill gamers at the same time, please feel free to check out my channels and subscribe if you like the content and my goals! http://www.twitch.tv/legacyarkgames

7. I watch a lot of YouTube, I mean hours a day of videos, lectures, documentaries, funny clips, animal

clips, weather from around the world, music videos, music reaction videos, how to videos, climate change videos,

woodworking videos, rocket stove videos, big machines videos, cannabis videos, comedians stand up routine videos, clips

from all the late night shows videos, first amendment audit videos, cop camera videos, monster truck videos, clips

from all the news stations videos, cooking videos, Nature Bats Last videos, The Atheist Experience videos, etc.

Like I stated, I watch a lot of YouTube.

Not that it means anything, but I have not heard of anyone on that list.

the 5 to 15 minute vids don't over tax my short attention span in the evening when I'm tired.

I'm just like you.

Btw, if you like history, I highly recommend checking out the "History Time" channel, and if you don't like history, watching a couple of their videos will change your mind:

eat sauerkraut out of a used toilet if it got them enough "engagements".

19. MrBeast has pulled off numerous stunts that benefit charity

Buys the ENTIRE content of a grocery store and donates it to a food pantry organization.

Same with clothing; shoes…

His stuff is generally benign activities however it’s content that’s viewed in the millions per day; and attracts major advertising revenue.

27. *LOCKING*

Host consensus is this OP doesn't meet the criteria in the SOP for this forum:

Important news of national interest only.

This would be fine in the General Discussion or the Entertainment section.
