Search for Supreme Court leaker falls to former Army colonel
Source: Associated Press
WASHINGTON (AP) When Gail Curley began her job as Marshal of the U.S. Supreme Court less than a year ago, she would have expected to work mostly behind the scenes: overseeing the courts police force and the operations of the marble-columned building where the justices work.
Her most public role was supposed to be in the courtroom, where the Marshal bangs a gavel and announces the entrance of the courts nine justices. Her brief script includes Oyez! Oyez! Oyez! meaning hear ye and concludes, God save the United States and this Honorable Court.
Earlier this month, however, Curley was handed a bombshell of an assignment, overseeing an unprecedented breach of Supreme Court secrecy, the leak of a draft opinion and apparent votes in a major abortion case. Leaks to Politico suggest that the court seems ready to overturn Roe v. Wade, the 1973 decision that women have a constitutional right to abortion. That has sparked protests and round-the-clock security at justices homes, demonstrations at the court and concerns about violence following the courts ultimate decision.
People who know Curley, 53, described the former Army colonel and military lawyer as possessing the right temperament for a highly charged leak investigation: smart, private, apolitical and unlikely to be intimidated.

Seriously- not YOU - you are fine posting this . . .
But why is the media running with the leaker story and not the Virginia Thomas is a dirtbag treasonous asshole story?

(11,518 posts)If they can gin up enough outrage amongst their base they have a better chance of doing well in November, and there's nothing like a good scandal to do just that.
And I equally suspect either Ginny or else Kavanaugh. We all know about Ginny, but some folks don't yet realize that Kavanaugh worked for Ken Starr and was the designated leaker when Starr wanted to put out bits and pieces of information that might make Bill Clinton look bad.

(31,810 posts)But I'm just in an "I don't care mode". The number one risk to the SCOTUS's reputation is Thomas and his wife. Even more so than the beer guy.
I suspect some of the 'speaking out of school' Thomas has been doing lately about 'trust' and when the court was great (before Roberts) is because Roberts is hammering him continously.

(23,091 posts)She won't find out because they did it themselves or else the spouse did it. R's are nothing but lying hypocrites and SCOTUS is full of the worst of the worst christofascists. Alito won't be happy until he's stolen every right from women, with contrapception coming next.

(9,772 posts)If there is no law, this is about as significant as some pissed-off H.R. type suing someone for for breach of company rules or employment "agreement". I say that because such agreements vary, most not being formal contracts. If civil service rules apply here, I have no knowledge of such.
In a more cynical sense, someone "went against the family"
The one thing that is clear is that only one person is beyond reproach, and hence .....
