Steve Bannon vows MAGA will destroy 'Gestapo' FBI: 'We are a threat to the American state'

Conservative podcast host Steve Bannon on Monday declared that his followers "are a threat to the American state."
During opening remarks on his War Room: Pandemic podcast, Bannon argued that the FBI should be defunded because agents served a search warrant to recover classified documents at former President Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate. . . .
. . . Bannon noted that Vox had recently published a column warning that Trump's Make America Great Again (MAGA) movement is a threat to the "American state."
"They didn't say the country, they didn't say America as a nation, they didn't say the American people," Bannon argued. "The American state. And they are absolutely correct. You said the quiet part out loud. We are a threat to the American state."

I remember predicting violence by MAGA between the election and Biden's inauguration. That wasn't difficult, but I didn't predict it would be an organized effort to overthrow the government.
Today we have once again been warned.

(8,676 posts)Was in our White House and traveled on our plane. He needs to be held in a terrorist retaining cell, not a prison. He would do too well in prison never be near a shower, and a vector of diseases. Zero threat of a sexual attack. But Terrorist would not be to accepting of his Muslim attitude. His face would actually become more cratered and scabbed over. Five layers of prison clothes would not buffer the ass kickings he would attract with Muslim extremists.

(128,483 posts)and had been previously pardoned for the "fund the wall" nonsense.
Since he was not part of the administration during the run up to the election and insurrection (was fired in August 2017), then he would be harder to nail due to first amendment stuff given he was mainly blabbering from behind the mic about like Hannity and Carlson and the rest of their ilk, although it would be interesting to see if they try - perhaps for something else like more financial fraud stuff, that they seem to excel at. If anyone, Roger Stone (another who had been previously pardoned for other stuff) would be the one who they could nail for more active participation in planning the insurrection.

There are dozens of others, all calling for "civil war." It's all 1st Amendment, but at some point it's a call to arms (like Alex Jones on 1/6).
BumRushDaShow
(128,483 posts)unless it is found to be slanderous (and that is often hard to prove - although you see what it has taken to do so with Alex Jones and the Sandy Hook parents to get as far as they did) or is akin to making terroristic threats/threats of violence that might be reasonably enough to be carried out (vs "reporting about" such).
What might be more instructive is how Dominion Systems handles these guys based on their defamation suits against Ghouliani, the Kooky Kraken Krew, and the Faux Snooze RW loons.
The suit, filed by Dominion Voting Systems, could be one of the most consequential First Amendment cases in a generation.
By Jeremy W. Peters
Aug. 13, 2022
In the weeks after President Donald J. Trump lost the 2020 election, the Fox Business host Lou Dobbs claimed to have tremendous evidence that voter fraud was to blame. That evidence never emerged but a new culprit in a supposed scheme to rig the election did: Dominion Voting Systems, a maker of election technology whose algorithms, Mr. Dobbs said, were designed to be inaccurate. Maria Bartiromo, another host on the network, falsely stated that Nancy Pelosi has an interest in this company. Jeanine Pirro, a Fox News personality, speculated that technical glitches in Dominions software could have affected thousands of absentee mail-in ballots. Those unfounded accusations are now among the dozens cited in Dominions defamation lawsuit against the Fox Corporation, which alleges that Fox repeatedly aired false, far-fetched and exaggerated allegations about Dominion and its purported role in a plot to steal votes from Mr. Trump.
Those bogus assertions made day after day, including allegations that Dominion was a front for the communist government in Venezuela and that its voting machines could switch votes from one candidate to another are at the center of the libel suit, one of the most extraordinary brought against an American media company in more than a generation. First Amendment scholars say the case is a rarity in libel law. Defamation claims typically involve a single disputed statement. But Dominions complaint is replete with example after example of false statements, many of them made after the facts were widely known. And such suits are often quickly dismissed, because of the First Amendments broad free speech protections and the high-powered lawyers available to a major media company like Fox.
If they do go forward, they are usually settled out of court to spare both sides the costly spectacle of a trial. But Dominions $1.6 billion case against Fox has been steadily progressing in Delaware state court this summer, inching ever closer to trial. There have been no moves from either side toward a settlement, according to interviews with several people involved in the case. The two companies are deep into document discovery, combing through years of each others emails and text messages, and taking depositions. These people said they expected Rupert and Lachlan Murdoch, who own and control the Fox Corporation, to sit for depositions as soon as this month.
The case threatens a huge financial and reputational blow to Fox, by far the most powerful conservative media company in the country. But legal scholars say it also has the potential to deliver a powerful verdict on the kind of pervasive and pernicious falsehoods and the people who spread them that are undermining the countrys faith in democracy. Were litigating history in a way: What is historical truth? said Lee Levine, a noted First Amendment lawyer who has argued several major media defamation cases. Here youre taking very recent current events and going through a process which, at the end, is potentially going to declare what the correct version of history is.

(47,270 posts)if I was in any kind of legal jeopardy, the last thing I'd do would be make the FBI my sworn enemy. Shoot, even if I WASN'T in legal jeopardy, I wouldn't poke that bear. It might get him good ratings with the fringe of society, but it will do him no favors in the long run.
I can't believe the arrogance of these guys. Even in court, they show no contrition or remorse. Surely they know this cannot last much longer.

(8,962 posts)Mother Russia no doubt approves. Ends always justify the means. The "American state" as mandated by American voters needs to be dismantled by any means possible. Elections are an inconvenient stumbling block, and unfavorable results must always be contested. Democracy must be relegated to the ash bin of history in favor of an autocratic leader who is dedicated to core MAGA principles of white nationalism. And if all else fails, violence is the solution toward attaining these goals.
Since Bannon seems to have already written his Manifesto, it seems like he'll be very bored in prison with no new abominations to dredge up from his reptilian brain.

Still without the requested line, Trump and Jarod was just gonna send Rand Paul to Moscow to hand deliver more messages. So, Mary suggesting Jarod may be the mole, only if he has turned to avoid treason charges of his on. Who knows how much they got to Putin over the last 6 years. And every other enemy leader hell bent on bringing down American. The Merry Go Round Golden Ring to them all. And willing to pay for. And it sure looks like Bannon is willing to help it get done.

(53,743 posts)bullshit he got from, where else, Russia. Alexandr Dugin is a deconstructionist, Russian philosopher who preaches tearing down government institutions and replacing them with fascism. In Europe and Asia he wants a totalitarian Russian Empire to control the Eurasian continent from Dublin to Vladivostok to challenge America and "Atlanticism". And he has Putin's ear, thus the Ukraine invasion.
This is who Bannon gets this crap from. But who the hell would trust Bannon and trump to come up with anything but similar fascism to the max which of course would kowtow to Russia. So Bannon can STFU as even his spews are just copied from someone else. Nothing original about them.
