Top GOP senators reject Trump's declassification comments and call for proper storage of secret reco

Source: CNN

(CNN)Several GOP senators raised new concerns Thursday about former President Donald Trump's handling of classified documents, rejecting his claim that he could simply declassify the secret records by "thinking about it."

In interviews with CNN, the senators broke from Trump's claim that everything was handled appropriately, diverging from many in the party who have sidestepped questions about the matter or have vigorously defended the former President.

Asked about Trump's claim on Fox News that he could simply declassify documents by thinking about it and there's no process for him to follow to do that, Senate GOP Whip John Thune told CNN there's a process for declassifying documents.

"And I think it ought to be adhered to and followed. And I think that should apply to anybody who has access to or deals with classified information," Thune said.

Our close allies will refuse to share top secret intelligence gathered out in the field with us because we handle very sensitive intel info very cavalierly.

Later for that,.. count the USA out of the loop,.. they are too wishy-washy and lack the seriousness required for - need to know only - national intelligence information.

This is why a clown does not belong seated in the most powerful seat on the planet - located in the Oval Office of the White House.

some of these too secret documents to Trump. If you follow the need to know reasoning, what possible reason could Trump need to know intel leading to the names of secret agents. Perhaps he needed to know an assessment of another nation’s nuclear capabilities, but such documents should never have been left with Trump months on end, as seems to have been the case as he squirreled away classified documents long before leaving the WH. Seems like we need some new rules, even for presidents.

The protocols need to be tightened up significantly,..

Hand over the intel documents for dissemination to authorized individuals only,..

Record who has the document,
Date handed over
Expected date to get back

Retrieve the intel documents
On the designated day

If any documents are missing
Tighten up the procedures

If you are dealing with a jackass such as trDUMP
IMMEDIATELY go on high alert when he is anywhere near top secret documents. Make sure none are "missing".

DJT will pilfer and plunder national security documents while seeking to monetize them.

Be forewarned.

Don't let anybody--even the Prez--cart them off to their private residence. I still can't understand how he got away with taking these docs back to the living quarters. And no one thought, (or were afraid to,) get them back. ESPECIALLYL the docs that were only supposed to be viewed inside a SKIFF.

Trump direspected the Oath he made to the Country the Constitution the People. He is an embarrassment to himself and to the Country.
Jim Jordan is involved with more than we know. Mike Flynn was there that day in the WH? There will be a long list of them am sure
