Romney Urges Gingrich Disclosure on Freddie Mac
GREENVILLE, S.C. As South Carolina residents began voting Saturday morning, Mitt Romney stopped to thank supporters and volunteers at his campaign office here, and he called on Newt Gingrich to release the details of his contract with Freddie Mac.
Id like to see what the report was that he provided to Freddie Mac, Id like to see what he advised, Mr. Romney said, as he worked a rope line. He said he was an historian and just provided historical information, then he said he told them what they were doing was somehow not going to work. Id like to see the report.
He added: He also said that he was one of the authors of the Reagan revolution economically and created these jobs. Now that weve looked at the Reagan diaries and seen hes mentioned only once and in a way where Reagan said he was wrong, Id like to see what he actually told Freddie Mac. Dont ya think we ought to see it? This is a big issue. Weve got a Washington insider talking about Freddie Mac, lets see what his report was to Freddie Mac, what he said to them, what advice he gave them.
Mr. Gingrich has said he did not do any lobbying for Freddie Mac, the mortgage giant that paid him more than $1 million.
