Gingrich rapidly closing in on Romney nationally

Washington Post:

Yesterday’s Gallup tracking poll shows that Newt Gingrich has closed to within five points of Mitt Romney on the national level, with Romney at 30 and Gingrich at 25 points.

And guess what: Gallup’s new tracking numbers, due out at 1 p.m. today, will show the race tighter still, according to Gallup chief Frank Newport.

“What’s coming out at one o’clock will show the race continuing to tighten,” Newport said by phone just now. “Romney is losing support and Gingrich is gaining support.”

That would seem to suggest that the race will almost be tied as of this afternoon.

Ya know, every other Republican candidate imploded; maybe Mittens was just a littler slower...

while Newt is spewing one sentence sound bites, Obama will be talking in complete paragraphs lol. Should be some interesting moments.
Of course Newt is not really a street rabble rouser, he is a multi-millionaire DC insider.

The voters are doing something about it.

Of course they're not all suddenly falling in love in Gingrich. But next to Romney, they see him as the lessor of two evils.

And if Gingrich does manage to finish within five points in Florida, that's EXTRA bad news for the GOP.

Popcorn, please!

White House if things go horribly wrong for Obama. I don't like to take that chance. Romney is no statesman either but he would be better than Newt.

And when he finally wins he will have less money for the general election and Newt's supporters will be pissed and not inclined to work very hard for Mitt. Many tea party types will likely stay home rather than vote for Mitt.
