http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/01/24/james-farentino-dead-acto_n_1229750.html

LOS ANGELES — Actor James Farentino, who appeared in dozens of movies and television shows, died Tuesday in a Los Angeles hospital, according to a family spokesman. He was 73.

Farentino died of heart failure at Cedars-Sinai Hospital after a long illness, said the spokesman, Bob Palmer.

Farentino starred alongside Kirk Douglas and Martin Sheen in the 1980 science fiction film "The Final Countdown." The movie featured a modern aircraft carrier that travels back in time to Pearl Harbor hours before the Japanese attack.

Farentino also starred opposite Patty Duke in 1969's "Me, Natalie."

FULL story at link.

Many of you know Marta and I have many friends from the classic or golden era of TV. We never met Mr Farentino. We do have several friends in common that spoke well of him.

The same modern aircraft carrier was used to go back and time and plant Obama's birth announcements in the Honolulu newspapers.

They must have gone forward in time to see he'd be President first though. It's the only logical explanation left.

I had it on "VHS tape" and it wasn't cheap, either!

RIP, Mister Farentino.

Way too young to go.

As an aviation buff/student, it was quite a joy to see the workings of an aircraft carrier. Scifi, WW2 and big loud jet airplanes. What more could you ask for?

You could tell some of those extras were real live sailors.

I think I'll go watch it on NF instant.

RIP, James Farentino.

Not quite so cute was Dynasty actor James Farentino, who was convicted of stalking Tina 11 years ago after a tempestuous relationship. "When he found out, my father wanted to take him on," she admits.
