10. We did our sacrificing before we qualified for Social Security.

We paid extra taxes to cover our retirement (more than previous generations) and then we paid the higher tax rates that Republicans now object to.

That was our sacrifice. If we make enough money in a year, we still pay the taxes everyone else makes.

There is no reason to pick out people on Social Security or military pensions or others who would be subjected to the chained CPI. No reason at all. Why should we be expected to make a sacrifice when people with other kinds of pensions do not.

And if you have a 401(K), you have already sacrificed. You sacrificed in 2008 when the value of it went down.

I want to believe in the Democratic Party, I really do. But when I see such petty political games being played, I can't help but think of the dictatorship my family escaped many years ago when we were young.
