Rep. King calls for donation cut-off to fellow Republicans over stalled Sandy aid bill

A top House Republican lashed out at party leaders Wednesday over a decision to end the session without a vote on aid for Superstorm Sandy victims, going so far as to urge constituents to stop donating to congressional Republicans.

"I'm saying anyone from New York and New Jersey who contributes one penny to congressional Republicans is out of their minds," Rep. Peter King, R-N.Y., told Fox News. "What they did last night was put a knife in the back of New Yorkers and New Jerseyans."

In the waning hours of the session, New York and New Jersey lawmakers from both parties were appealing to House leaders to reconsider the move and bring the bill to a vote. Lawmakers in the hard-hit region were expecting an aid bill to reach the floor before the new Congress is seated Thursday -- at that point, Congress would have to start anew on a Sandy package. But House Speaker John Boehner apparently decided to put off the vote until later in the month.

King called the decision a "disgrace" and "immoral" -- and accused fellow Republicans of turning away from New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie. "What did they do? They knifed him in the back," he said.

the family values portion of the Republican brand. I would take it a step further and say that many Republicans that consider themselves Christian have a lot of "soul searching" to do.

It is all a sham to appear morally superior and hide deficiencies at the same time.

5. There was a naive southern GOP governor a few years who spoke against them hurting the poor...

He was NOT re-elected. The GOP wanted the most regressive taxing plan possible, and the least help for the poor. I read his statement, he was appalled. The religious right is an oxymoron.

Glad that King has finally seen the writing on the wall from the failed philosophy of governing for the rich and against the people, although I thought he was a jerk. May have him confused with someone else, or he's still one but he has heard enough from his constituents to wake up at last.

No better person to tell them off but a fellow repuke. If they could see themselves as many Americans do, they might survive as an opposition party to balance things out, which is what they were supposed to be. Instead, they've been a thinly disguised front for the Koch family. The veil is lifting and people don't like what they're seeing at all.
