Starbucks to open first Vietnam store next month

Source: BBC

Starbucks, the world's biggest coffee-shop company, is set to open its first store in Vietnam next month as it continues expanding in Asia.

The cafe will be in Ho Chi Minh City, the company said in a statement, with partner Hong Kong's Maxim Group.

Starbucks has seen growth stagnate in the US prompting it to open thousands of stores in China and Asia Pacific.

Vietnam is the second-largest coffee producer in the world behind Brazil.

Even when the South fell, the new rulers couldn't control business in Saigon (and despite the edict that it would be known as Ho Chi Minh City, everyone in the South continued to call it Saigon).

Why did we waste all those lives, all that money?

What were we fighting about?

Making peace is always healthier and more profitable than making war.

If we spent as much time and money on learning how to make peace, on making the tools of peace, as we do on learning how to make war and on making the tools of war, just think how much better life would be.

War is a waste. Always. With no exceptions.

...but the lowliest 2-table shops in Vietnam have great Vietnamese coffee.

The best coffee comes from Ban Me Thuot, and is widely available throughout Vietnam and is exported. Look for Starbucks VN to offer that, too. There's no way they can compete without incorporating the great local coffees.
