The re-election campaign of New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) announced a fundraising haul of $2.1 million since the Republican officially declared his intention to pursue a second term on Nov. 26. As the campaign noted in its release, Christie has yet to hold a single campaign event.
The announcement:
Governor Chris Christies campaign raised over $2.1 million since its launch on November 26, 2012. In just 36 days without a single event and in the midst of the holiday season, contributors donated an unprecedented amount to support the Governors re-election.
Governor Christies campaign continues to gain momentum because New Jerseyans believe in his decisive leadership, said campaign strategist Mike DuHaime. This unprecedented financial support in such a short time demonstrates the overwhelming support from residents across the Garden State. Governor Christie has made tough choices to achieve real progress on meaningful reforms for all New Jerseyans. Whether its cutting taxes, improving education or pension and benefit reform, Governor Christie has fought for a middle-class reform agenda that protects taxpayers and reins in the cost of government.
Last month Governor Christie received the endorsement of the 20,000-member Laborers International Union of North America (LIUNA) which backed Democrat Jon Corzine in the 2009 campaign.

(1,869 posts)Not at the level of a popular incumbent like Christie, but decent enough at this point in the race.
I hope Stephen Sweeney enters the race.

(22 posts)After the whole RUC-Rowan debacle, I haven't seen anything about Sweeney that made me feel that he was anything other than a Norcross stooge who has betrayed his union roots, stood by while Christie spearheaded attacks on education, and who, at his worst, could give Christie lessons in being a snide autocratic a##hole.
I am fairly new to South Jersey though, so if I am missing any redeeming qualities, I'd love to hear them.
I have never heard of Buono though, so I'll have to look into her.
