Illinois GOP Calls For Ouster Of Their Gay Marriage-Supporting Party Leader

For refusing to toe the party line over same-sex marriage in Illinois, state GOP Chairman Pat Brady is now facing an intra-party backlash with some Republican officials calling for his resignation.

In the waning days of the state Senate's lame-duck session, Brady encouraged his GOP colleagues to support the Religious Freedom and Marriage Fairness Act. Brady noted his statements were made as a private citizen and not as part of his official role with the Illinois Republican Party.

Still, many in the beleaguered party have turned on party chairman.

“Pat Brady is a total disgrace,” said Bobbie Peterson, a Republican state central committeewoman from Beecher, Ill. according to WBEZ. “He’s a pretty face for TV. He can speak well. Period. But what’s coming out of his mouth is not what the Illinois Republican party is about.”

Illinois Republicans are about as relevant as members of the Whig party. The Democrats now have a super majority in both the house and the senate and I can't remember the last time the repukes had anywhere near a majority in Illinois.

finally got elected to something I see after trying for a few decades. He's a good representative of the GOP. Not smart, mean spirited and senses a chance to be interviewed and get some attention.

He's about like a case of herpes and evidently a recurring Illinois GOP "gift."

4. i find it sort of sad gay republicans....

or the republican parents of gay children say nothing. over the years i have seen more republicans deny that they are or deny that their children are than any democrat i know of. no matter how hard they try the republicans can not stop the acceptance of people who they believe are different than them.
