Oracle patches Java 7 security flaw with Update 11

Source: Computerworld

Oracle has released Java 7 Update 11 to address the latest Java security flaw. Java 6 was not updated as the bug that has gotten all the attention the last few days was limited to Java version 7.

Java 7 is available on Windows, OS X Lion, OS X Mountain Lion and some Linux distributions. OS X Snow Leopard is limited to Java version 6.

Everyone with Java 7 installed on their computer should upgrade to to the latest edition, Update 11. It can be downloaded at java.com/en/download/manual.jsp.

Java 7 Update 10 introduced a new feature that can totally disable Java in all browsers. This should protect anyone running Update 10 from the latest flaw, but nonetheless, installing Update 11 is the safer way to go.

It's usually McAfee, Ask toolbar or other such crap. (Adobe does the same thing.)

Thanks for mentioning this.
I see some sites are sort of down, like eBay.com. The probably have Java disabled on their end as is the case with many other sites.

I hope everyone gets fixed up soon and JUST SAY NO TO MCAFEE!!

Just a quick question. I am not at all computer sophisticated and remain concerned about security issues on my laptop. I would love to know why you have such a negative opinion about McAfee and what are other options. I am still wrestling with this.
