Cruz Refuses To Denounce Controversial NRA Ad
Source: TPM
PEMA LEVY 11:17 AM EST, SUNDAY JANUARY 20, 2013
Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) on Sunday refused to denounce the National Rifle Association ad which called President Obama a "hypocrite" for questioning the idea of putting armed guards in all schools while his own children receive armed Secret Service protection.
There is a fundamental point of hypocrisy when it comes to gun control Cruz said on NBC's "Meet the Press."
Cruz argued that gun control was important to lower-income Americans who don't have the same police protection in their communities as wealthy people do.
Rather than denounce the ad, Cruz attacked Obama for pursuing gun control legislation.

Cruz: Obama Exploiting Newtown To Push Partisan Agenda
PEMA LEVY 11:11 AM EST, SUNDAY JANUARY 20, 2013
Freshman Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) said Sunday that President Obama began to exploit the Newtown massacre within minutes of it happening by pushing a partisan gun control agenda.
"Within minutes of that horrible tragedy in Newtown, the president began trying to exploit that tragedy to push a gun control agenda that is designed to appeal to partisans, designed to appeal to his political partisans," Cruz said on NBC's "Meet the Press."

(10,252 posts)He's also a very ambitious man, getting himself on Sunday talking heads programs as often as possible. I guess the MSM thinks that Cruz is the Senate Go-To guy for the wingnut contingent--now that Jim DeMint has moved on to much much greener moolah pastures.
Watch out for Cruz, he's very ambitious. I predict that he will be a bigger backstabber than Cantor is over in the House.

(25,183 posts)DeMint decided to move on. Cruz will be a far more effective spokesman from the Senate for the tea partiers, and there's a void in the non-governmental sector slot for the TP. Palin has been pretty much marginalized by this last election, she wasn't half the presence that she was in the 2010 elections, but DeMint has moved to cut her off from re-emerging in 2014 as the champion of the ultra reich wingers who will move to unseat any Rethug showing even a hint of cooperation with the President.

(47,992 posts)you're out sentencing guidelines.
It's like you have people dying because they can get nothing but the worst food to eat and your only solution is to be sure that there is almost nothing but more and more and worse and worse food to eat.
It's justification for more draconian policies to fill up all of those private prisons.
It's genocide, Senator Cruz, genocide.

(28,246 posts)It was once said that dim old Kay Bailey Hutchison appeared to be a scholarly intellectual, compared to John Cornyn. Compared to Cruz, Cornyn now attains Winston Churchill status. Texas senators have been sub-par, for some time.

I watched him, he is out of touch with what American's outside of Texas wants.
He clearly despises President Obama too.
Another extreme wingnut from the right.

The Hispanic voting bloc is growing yearly.
Sadler wanted So Badly to debate Cruz on Univision.

I think it's funny, but Cruz is a tragedy for my beloved state of Texas.

Federal law says if only one is a citizen the other parent must have resided in the U.S. for a total of 10 years.

We, and 99 and 44-100ths percent of the populace that does not self-identify as tea party members, have determined that Mr. Cruz is crazier than a Shithouse Rat."

(4,281 posts)The Constitution supersedes it, and it says you must be "Natural born" and at least 35. The 35 part is very clear, the big problem is "natural born" has never been defined by the Supreme Court. It's very open to debate.
former9thward
(31,961 posts)But federal law passed by Congress and signed by the President has defined what "natural born" is. I think the SC would defer to Congress absent contrary evidence.

(4,281 posts)Do you think those who are pro-choice and want an assault weapons ban are hypocrites too? At least be consistent.

(30,058 posts)There is a difference. Pro life says they err on the side of life and these weapons are designed to kill. They should be limited to law enforcement and military, weapons of war.

Bottom line... get them registered and to the polls in 2014.

(62,507 posts)he failed to at first own up to his stupidity when it came to how old the earth was, then finally coughed up an answer.
now as before he's again trying to play it safe with the extreme nuts here in Texas by not denouncing the obvious in hopes of gaining favor with the morons of the right.
this is, what I like to call the dance of the incumbent. he so wants to butter both sides of the bread.

(4,929 posts)if his children were featured as potential targets in an ad??....not that I'm advocating that that, but I don't think he has thought this through. Or maybe he has but realized that without the NRA he probably wouldn't have been elected or will not be re-elected.
