Iraq bomb: Many dead in Shia mosque in Tuz Khurmato

At least 23 people have been killed by a suicide bomber at a Shia mosque in the Iraqi village of Tuz Khurmato, with scores more wounded, police say.

The blast targeted worshippers attending a funeral at the mosque.

Tuz Khurmato lies 175km (110 miles) north of the capital, Baghdad, and is populated mainly by ethnic Turkmen.

Although sectarian violence has decreased since its height in 2006 and 2007, attacks on Shia are common, with many blamed on Sunni militants.

not too happy about majority rule. I believe that Shiites are about 2/3 of Iraq's population though they have only recently had any political power.

The demographics are not that different from South Africa where 4/5% of the population is Black with about 10% each of whites (down from 20% when they ruled the place) and mixed race. One would always hope that a majority rules compassionately with respect for minorities but it is hard to argue with majority rule.

7. Right. They're used to MINORITY rule

IIRC, Saddam's Baath party was Sunni, and used secret police and military brutality to keep the Shiite majority (as well as the Kurds) from "causing trouble". "trouble" would be any expression of rights or wealth.

We defeated the Baath/Sunni ruling government, let democratic elections install the Shiite rulers, so now the Sunni will rise up.
