Mitt and Ann Romney in D.C. for 'social visit'

Source: CNN

Washington (CNN) – Mitt Romney and his wife Ann are in Washington Friday for a "social visit," according to a former senior adviser to the 2012 GOP presidential nominee.

Romney will attend a reception in his honor Friday hosted by philanthropist Catherine Reynolds and businessman Bill Marriott Jr. The Romneys are also expected to attend the black-tie Alfalfa Dinner, scheduled for Saturday, while in the nation's capital.

Romney was not seen Friday morning outside the hotel where the reception was set to take place; however, his 2012 running mate Rep. Paul Ryan was spotted entering the building. Romney did not attend President Barack Obama's inauguration this week, remaining instead at his home in La Jolla, California. Romney was last in D.C. when he lunched with Obama at the White House last month.

"He deliberately did not inject himself into the political discussion between the election and the inauguration while the President was laying out his agenda for a second term," the former senior adviser said. "But Gov. Romney does care deeply about America and its place in the world and from time to time he will speak out on issues."

Maybe that's why Willard's in DC - to help anoint a new one. Paul Ryan is one possibility, Jebbie another.

11. Fun fact: Until 2011 Marriott offered porn channels in its hotel room TVs,

The hotel chain was "by some estimates was earning $175 per room, per year in smut peddling alone." I guess this decision was timed for Romney to run for president. Romney recently returned to the Marriott board.

According to the washington post,

During the 2008 presidential campaigns, Romney was criticized by family-oriented interest groups for not pressing Marriott to drop the adult movies offered in its rooms.

A coalition of Christian organizations that includes Focus on the Family met with Marriott International officials in Washington in 2008 to press the hotel chain to stop offering pay-per-view adult movies.

Marriott did not take action following those meetings. On Monday, it said the recent decision was based on economics and technology. More guests can access adult content cheaply on their portable devices rather than pay for premium adult channels.

He's a rich nobody. He holds no position of authority, no power, nothing. He's just a rich white racist, there are thousands of those and the media doesn't document their trips. He doesn't deserve the spotlight.
