Bella Santorum Hospitalized Because of Pneumonia
Bella Santorum Hospitalized Because of Pneumonia
Jan 29, 2012 2:12pm
The reason Bella Santorum was admitted to Childrens Hospital of Philadelphia Saturday night is because she has pneumonia in both of her lungs, a campaign aide told ABC News.
The 3-year-old, who has the serious genetic disorder Trisomy 18, is not on a ventilator, though, which is a very good sign. The family has medical equipment in their Virginia home and because of the risk of infection in hospitals they try to keep her out unless it is absolutely necessary.
She was in and out of hospitals the first year of her life, but since then aside from besides being admitted for surgeries she has not spent any time in the hospital before Saturday, Rick Santorum has said on the campaign trail.

(273 posts)Santorum's politics are beyond repulsive, but I wish no ill will on his family for it.

My wishes for a speedy recovery from her pneumonia. Her name suits her, lovely little girl.

(32,013 posts)the 1%-er Santorum would tell a working-class family in Pennsylvania whose young kid has pneumonia: "Sorry. If the local church can't pitch in for the kid's hospital bills, tough luck." (In fact he recently attacked Romney over the Massachusetts health care bill.)
But I agree with y'all that we should be sympathetic to Bella and can't blame her for having a bigoted fundie dad. If she survives to adulthood I hope she becomes skeptical of those "Christian values" after growing up with a dad like Rick.

(25 posts)is into "divine healing." If he is, Bella is in for a life of praying out the "demons" that cause the condition.
I hope Bella escapes it. But doubt it.

(1,186 posts)... he would be eligible for government-sponsored health care programs. Did he refuse them to be consistent with conservative principles. Government-run health care programs are bad for you, right (P)Ricky?

(30,540 posts)no matter what Santorum seems to be (a very rare) repub who lives up to his family values principles. I bet Noot would never take time off for his sick children or an ailing spouse (that's obvious).

I too wish the little girl the best.
But I isk the DUer's here if the left or center could expect similarly kind comments from the right if it were one of our children?
Sadly, I think that we probably could not.

Having said that, I wish the Santorum family the best with their child. It must be heartbreaking to see your child suffer so much...just awful...
