Drug testing of lawmakers added to Kansas bill
February 28
BY BRENT D. WISTROM
Eagle Topeka bureau

TOPEKA — State lawmakers may have to take a test to prove they’re not on drugs.

That’s because senators tentatively agreed Wednesday to add lawmakers to a bill that requires drug tests of any welfare or unemployment recipient who state officials reasonably suspect is using illegal substances.

“What’s good for the goose is good for the gander,” said Wichita Democratic Sen. Oletha Faust-Goudeau, who opposed testing the poor and unemployed but wanted to include lawmakers if the idea were to pass.

Lawmakers, however, shot down another proposal that would have required drug tests of businesspeople controlling companies that get economic incentives from the state.

society, they should be required to be tested as well. before each vote, before each payday--every time they go on some "fact-finding trip" paid for by companies or lobbyists--hell, every time they MEET with company reps or lobbyists.

I like the testing of the businesspeople--what a great idea!!

Now a lie detector test to ask them if they have every accepted a bribe or solicited for a "donation" to sway their vote? I could go for that in a heatbeat.

of course, hookers and Republican lawmakers are pretty much the same thing ... only the hookers are more respectable ... and probably more honest ... "Oh, you're SOOOOOO good!"

Drug testing is about, and always has been about, Marijuana/Cannibus. All other substances disappear from the system in a reasonable time, but Cannibus can stay in the system for as long as 30 days.
Drug testing is a class/race based violation of the 4th Amendment: an unreasonable search. It is unlikely that the Lawmakers in Kansas will test positive for any substance unless they use Marijuana. How likely is that? And, can we really trust any test results that come from that source?

why are they so lost about what the people need and want? They are about to give up their only valid excuse and if they quit can you imagine them as even less mellow?
