Obama to refocus attention on immigration, gun control

President Obama signaled Friday a desire to refocus his attention on second-term priorities, such as immigration and gun control, after weeks of fruitless wrangling with Republicans over his fiscal agenda.

“What I want to try to do is make sure that we’re constantly focused . . . on how are we helping American families succeed,” Obama said at a news conference after failing to strike a deal with congressional leaders to avert $85 billion in mandatory budget cuts.

“Deficit reduction is part of that agenda, and an important part, but it’s not the only part,” he said. “And I don’t want us to be paralyzed on everything just because we disagree on this one thing.”

For a president who has bemoaned Washington’s penchant for lurching between self-manufactured political crises over the past two years, the inability to compromise with Republicans appeared to leave him simultaneously exasperated and emboldened.

has the President forgot about our climate and turned his attenton away. He has the power to act unilaterally to protect the world by refusing to improve the pipeline. Whose side willl he be on? The report seems to say in the midst of its cognitive dissonance, that he will support the rich investors and let the worlds people pay for it. Fight the pipeline. We will only suffer if it is approved.

6. Obama should be focused on a massive infrastructure rebuilding program...

HIgh speed rail, underground electric lines, roads, schools, bridges.... putting millions back to work with money flowing through the economy.

Jobs...joobs...jobs... but instead ,Obama is following, exactly the wrong path.... same as in the 1930's.

Bank failure, austerity, currency wars... and finally... they will take us to war with Iran (with dire consequences for the uSA)

Immigration and gun control.... just more theater from Washington. (imho)
