Paul Ryan: Budget blueprint will promote repealing health care law
Source: Washington Post
Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) said Sunday that the budget blueprint he plans to unveil later this week will promote repealing President Obamas signature health care law.
Yes, our budget does promote repealing Obamacare and replacing it with a better system, Ryan, the chairman of the House Budget Committee, said on Fox News Sunday.
Past House Republican efforts to repeal the presidents health care law have failed and the Supreme Court upheld the constitutionality of law last year.
On Thursday, Ryan lunched at the White House with Obama and Rep. Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.), the ranking Democrat on the House Budget Committee. Ryan said Sunday that only time will tell how effective the presidents recent outreach to him and other congressional Republicans will be. . .

Of course he says this. Because Ayn Rand continues to command him from the grave.

(97 posts)Paul Ryan says he wants to replace ACA with a patient controlled plan. What he
doesn't say is that means the deductible is so high that you control whether you
get health care by whether you can afford to pay cash.

(10,857 posts)Ryan astounded and wowed Republicans by producing a batshit insane budget proposal that had actual numbers in it.
Before that, in 2009, the Republican budget proposal was a 19-page pamphlet with no actual numbers in it.
http://rawstory.com/news/2008/GOP_budget_proposal_contains_no_numbers_0327.html
Ryan's attempt to appear more professional harmed him greatly last year, when those evil numbers were unceremoniously turned against Ryan and Mitt Romney. They had to lie about what those numbers were, what they meant, and how they would work, which was a lot of effort expended on defending a proposal that was not seriously considered by any legislator, ever (though many voted for it).
So the safe play would be to go back to writing a political platform and making sure to put a blue cover on it so people know it's a "budget."
I think Ryan will produce a modified proposal that offers no substance, but with a handful of numbers so that they cannot again be ridiculed for that.

(16,984 posts)...in other words, that Ryan's calculations are based on that. But thus far I haven't seen any specifics.
I noticed in one of the stories Ryan is promoting his plan (whatever it is) as "patient-centered health care." Again, there are no details. But given his previous faulty math and his promotion of throwing people on the mercies of the same corporations who were only too happy to take money but not necessarily deliver care (and in fact would cut off patients who actually needed treatment), we can all be forgiven for not being optimistic about the whole exercise.

(8,155 posts)For you, this is a self-righteous crusade.
For millions of Americans, you are putting forth legislation that would deny them health coverage. You are putting their lives at risk.
As someone living without health insurance because of a preexisting condition denial, I can tell you with confidence, do not fuck with me. And do not fuck with my friends. Because you do not even comprehend the kind of hell you will have to endure the moment you make any meaningful attempt to repeal the healthcare overhaul.
I have never liked you. But it was more of a passive dislike. Now I have a real reason to put you on my list of political enemies.
