Missouri lawmakers vote to roll back income taxes

Source: Reuters/Yahoo

The move came amid heavy pressure from lawmakers in western Missouri concerned that recent income tax cuts engineered by Republican Governor Sam Brownback in Kansas would send companies and jobs over the state line.
"This bill represents a significant, broad-based tax cut for all Missourians who pay taxes, both residents and businesses," said state Senator Will Kraus, a suburban Kansas City Republican and sponsor of the bill.
In the prepared statement, Kraus said the bill reflects input from Democrats by giving tax breaks to small business and low-income residents.
In a letter to state senators on Monday, Nixon said cutting income taxes while raising sales taxes shifts the burden from the wealthy to those less fortunate.

The same enacted in Kansas and proposed in North Carolina. Arithmetic doesn't lie and sales tax can never replace proportional income tax as a revenue stream. The national plan by ALEC to hobble government and destroy the middle class continues.

Damned morons. You can see the ALEC pitch right now "It is your money. Let's stop the state from taking away your money. Income tax penalized those who work for an income and rewards the lazy takers."

But he reality is that they will just raise taxes in other ways, sales tax, excise tax, gas tax -- and all of those other taxes are REGRESSIVE. There is a good reason why ALEC is working so hard to eliminate income taxes. Moving income tax to other taxation modes is a gigantic transfer of wealth from working Americans to the 0.1%.

But the sheep are what they are. No idea what a damned slaughter house is, let alone what it does.

Missouri's State legislature is run by Republican majorities in both houses, the claim of Democratic input is crap. This is typical Republican strategy: "Take from the poor and give to the rich." Wait until Missourians start to see the price of every thing they buy suddenly go up. That might cost a few GOP seats to change hands.

We would be seeing this on a national level, shifting the tax burden more onto the lower income brackets, if the Republicans had taken back the Senate. When are hillbillies and rednecks going to wise up? These guys are screwing you!
