Senate To Vote On Amendment Defunding Obamacare
Source: Talking Points Memo
The Senate will vote on an amendment put forward by Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) to defund the Affordable Care Act, otherwise known as Obamacare, on Wednesday at 2pm ET, per a Senate Democratic leadership aide.
The vote on the amendment, which is widely expected to fail, is part of a deal to move forward on a continuing resolution to fund the government past March 27 -- similar to that passed by the House. The measure marks the 34th time Republicans have tried to repeal or defund Obamacare.

What a waste of time this is. They need to get back voting on abortion restrictions and naming buildings after Reagan.

I don't know what the Senate's record on this is, but I am sure it's much lower. It may even be the first time, it's controlled by Ds.

The last election showed that they live in their own self made bubble.
Our side deals with real issues while their side deals with conservative media trumped up bull shit.

(8,945 posts)Unrelated to the topic here, but I read earlier today a tweet claiming that without voter fraud and help from Hagel's voting machines (remember those?) Obama would have lost in a landslide

(10,597 posts).... these Republicans from the moment the right wing activist Supreme Court swept GWB into office in Nov of 2000 up until the time they get off this evil schtick of screwing the people in favor of the 1%. Bill Clinton reminds us that this too shall pass, but with everything that has gone down for these 13 years, I'm more than a little frightened that Democracy has been trampled to the ground. The American People cannot seem to see the tip of their noses and keep giving us Republican Congresses. This needs to be drilled into their minds:The President PROPOSES, and the Congress DISPOSES. The President can beg them to write legislation. He can sign and veto legislation. And he can make appointments to his cabinet, and nominate judges and Supreme Court Justices. But he CANNOT write legislation!
On a lighter note, from Ellen Degeneres: Q.) Why does is the bookcase so confident?
A.) Because it has such high "shelf esteem."

Cruz (and the other lunatics) will be there, some until until 2018.
They will not stop.
So yes, laugh, but stay focused on getting rid as many each time the voting opportunity arises.

(5,048 posts)From the Senate's dictionary...
hold - An informal practice by which a senator informs his or her floor leader that he or she does not wish a particular bill or other measure to reach the floor for consideration. The majority leader need not follow the senator's wishes, but is on notice that the opposing senator may filibuster any motion to proceed to consider the measure.
Seems like sauce for the goose really...
