Bloomberg to give $250,000 to Planned Parenthood

Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg, responding to the controversy over a breast cancer advocacy group that cut off funding to Planned Parenthood, said on Thursday that he would make up a large part of the missing funds.

Mr. Bloomberg, a billionaire with a long-term interest in public health, said he would give Planned Parenthood Federation of America a $250,000 matching gift — he will donate $1 for every new dollar Planned Parenthood raises up to $250,000.

“Politics have no place in health care,” he said in a statement. “Breast cancer screening saves lives and hundreds of thousands of women rely on Planned Parenthood for access to care. We should be helping women access that care, not placing barriers in their way.”

CNN just reported.
Also Senators Patty Murry & Barbara Boxer today have 22 Senators signed on to introduce a bill that (I believe) has to do with ending the political biased investigation of Pp. Just caught the end of their interview so I didn't catch all the details. They went head to head against Ms. Brinker who insisted this action was not political based...both Senators called her out on this

GOP tactics of dividing people is their usual mantra, since they are well aware that they will not beat Obama.

They pull out the same divisive subjects that have worked for them in every election.

They have already done what they can to suppress the votes of the poor, & this issue with Komen is just another example of the same target, different method.

It is nothing BUT political.

He's been a long-time supporter of Planned Parenthood and reproductive choice in general. One reason I've always kind of liked him - there seems to be no ulterior motive for his support other than its the right thing.

I agree with the poster upstream here, that the 'stuff' is just STARTING to hit the fan for Komen.

If I were a cynic, I'd guess he was partly motivated by a desire to clean up his image with the liberal, NYC base after it was sullied by the OWS removal debacle. Fortunately, I'm not that cynical.
