Gov. Scott Walker to meet with prosecutors on John Doe investigation

Gov. Scott Walker to meet with prosecutors on John Doe investigation
By Jason Stein of the Journal Sentinel

Madison -- Gov. Scott Walker will be meeting with Milwaukee County prosecutors about the John Doe investigation into his current and former aides.

Walker said in a statement released by his campaign Friday that he has hired two attorneys to represent him as he talks with prosecutors in Milwaukee County District Attorney John Chisholm's office but that he will not use any public money to pay for them.

“Last year, my representatives voluntarily contacted Mr. Chisholm’s office to arrange a time to discuss any outstanding issues. I will be voluntarily meeting with Mr. Chisholm,” Walker said. ”To assemble additional background information, I hired counsel to insure that I am in the best position possible to continue aiding the inquiry.”

.................

Walker, a Republican, said he had hired two attorneys, Michael Steinle and John Gallo, to represent him. Neither man responded immediately to messages left seeking comment.

This is kind of hard to spin.

"Steinle is a Milwaukee-based criminal defense attorney with the firm Terschan, Steinle & Ness. He has taken on recent high-profile cases, including one involving a Fox Point teen who killed his grandfather with an ax.

Gallo is listed as a partner at Sidley Austin LLP in Chicago, and the firm's website says he specializes in representing criminal defendants and grand-jury targets."
