Senator Levin: Military Plagued By More Than 70 Sexual Assaults Per Day

WASHINGTON (AP) The chairman of a Senate committee says the sexual battery arrest of the Air Force officer who led the branchs Sexual Assault Prevention and Response unit underscores how far the Defense Department has to go in addressing the plague of sexual crimes in the military.
Senator Carl Levin of Michigan says at a hearing Tuesday that a Pentagon report to be released reportedly estimates that, on average, there are more than 70 sexual assaults involving military personnel every day.
Authorities in Arlington County, Va., say Lt. Col. Jeffrey Krusinski has been charged with groping a woman in a northern Virginia parking lot on Sunday.
Krusinski was removed from his post in the sexual assault unit after the Air Force learned of his arrest. He started in the post in February

(50,789 posts)That leaves a bad taste in my mouth when all of the military holidays come around to recognize those that served. IMO those that served are not all equal in honor. I'm split on this not wanting those that had bad behavior being given special treatment in civilian life.
