Marathon Bombing Suspect Buried At Undisclosed Location
Source: TPM
Tamerlan Tsarnaev, the Boston Marathon bombing suspect who died after a shoot-out with law enforcement last month, has been buried, according to a statement issued Thursday by the Worcester, Mass., police department
-snip-
As a result of our public appeal for help, a courageous and compassionate individual came forward to provide the assistance needed to properly bury the deceased. His body is no longer in the City of Worcester and is now entombed.
The Police Chief would like to thank all of the officers who worked the security detail at the funeral home and acknowledge their professionalism and dedication.
The Chief would also like to acknowledge Mr. Peter Stephan and Mr. Ruslan Tsarni for their cooperation. Deputy Police Chief Steve Sargent deserves recognition for his hard work and logistical coordination. City Clerk David Rushford also assisted by providing important information regarding the burial process. Congress Jim McGovern and his staff for their responsiveness and assistance.
And most importantly the Chief thanks the community that provided the burial site.
There is no further information at this time.

(17,085 posts)It is about time someone with some sense got this done. Sad, that the media played into this "controversy" instead of ignoring it. Bodies need to be buried as a matter of public health and it should have been stated that way.

(25,103 posts)I don't know why but this was kinda driving me nuts. I felt bad for the funeral home director. I also felt that it was very unsettling.
I'm glad that his body was put to rest.
Flame me, call me nuts, but I'm glad this is over.

(2 posts)Protesting outside the funeral home is a waste of time and talent. Let's just put all that "energy" into helping the victims. That is what needs to be done now. The press and the TV media already had their windfall. Now all efforts need to go to the victims.

(60,536 posts)looked up the word "entombed" in an on line dictionary; it means either and or, entombed or buried. Seems unusual for a reporter to use the word "entombed" though, why not just say buried?

(60,536 posts)partially filled with fresh concrete, his body thrown in and then further covered with wet cement. They probably (in my "thinking" left a few feet open, to be filled with dirt and planted with grass.

By those customs, a soul will not be released until the body has gone 'back to dust.'
There was a thread with a link to a story of a man in CT who has made requests to have him put in his private family plot as the 'right thing to do.'

(3,220 posts)The body is placed in a casket, which is inside a tomb (vault). Either word would probably work, though, since the tomb is buried.

(15,232 posts)This person could fit both categories but he had some estranged relatives who were willing to see his body was laid to rest.

(1,415 posts)are cremated and left in offices -- either the coroner's office or at local funeral homes. Most funeral homes (in my area) have a closet-full of cremains just chilling out. They can't bury them (no money), and nobody claims them, so they sit there. Some have been there for decades.
Every now and then, though, a group saves up money and at least get the veterans into national cemeteries.
