This sh*t has got to stop. Where is the NRA on this kind of violence? Surely, they aren't fighting for right for thugs (especially black ones) with guns on the street?

What good would everyone having guns have done with that situation? It would have been worse...

5. Black men = Gang violence?

I realize they are allegedly members of a gang, but even if true, what does randomly shooting up a parade have to do with gang activities? What does this gang have against people celebrating Mother's day? Sounds like an ass-pull regarding the motive from the police.

I'm just asking. I don't know if any were, but one or more of them might have been a target.

Total speculation on my part.

Given the number of people shot, it doesn't sound like he targeted anyone in particular. It sounds like he was shooting at anyone he could.

I'm not saying it's impossible that it is gang related, I just think it's cute they jumped to that immediately. I have a feeling if he was white, they would not have gone there. They would either not comment on a motive or be talking about his psychological issues.

Randomly shooting 19 people or aiming for one and somehow hitting 18 others.

13. They were specifically targeting one man from a rival gang

it was not random - they just didn't care about the collateral damage.

The second suspect arrested was identified as Shawn Scott, brother of Akein Scott, who was arrested Wednesday night and charged with 20 counts of attempted murder. Authorities said the Scott brothers are members of the Frenchman and Derbigny gang and that the target of the attack was Leonard Epps, 35, who suffered multiple gunshot wounds to his upper torso. Police said Epps is in a gang know as the Deslonde Boys, based in the lower 9th Ward.

9. Oregon live has this report:
Fri May 17, 2013, 02:26 AM
May 2013
Akein Scott, 19, was arrested in the Little Woods section of eastern New Orleans, police department spokeswoman Remi Braden said. She said no additional details were available and would not be until Thursday morning.

An earlier police news release said Scott had previously been arrested for illegal carrying of a weapon, illegal possession of a stolen firearm, resisting an officer, contraband to jail, illegal carrying of a weapon while in possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of heroin.

It was not immediately clear whether Scott, who was arrested this past March, had been convicted on any of those charges.

Video released Monday showed a crowd gathered for the Sunday parade suddenly scattering in all directions, with some falling to the ground. They appear to be running from a man in a white T-shirt and dark pants who turns and runs out of the picture.

This doesn't make sense at all. It says it's gang related, but the kids and others can't have had anything to do with that, IMO.
