Source: AP
RICHMOND, Va. (AP) Virginias activist conservative attorney general has won the Republican Partys gubernatorial nomination by acclamation.
At the GOPs statewide convention, thousands of conservatives and tea party followers who dominated the Richmond Coliseum on Saturday roared their unanimous support for Ken Cuccinelli. He was unopposed for the nomination and is generally beloved by the tea party for his aggressive challenges to federal mandates
Cuccinelli is an abortion foe who was the first state attorney general to challenge President Barack Obamas health care reforms in 2010.
He faces former Democratic National Committee chairman and Clinton family protege Terry McAuliffe in the Nov. 5 election to become Virginias 72nd governor. At age 44, the father of seven becomes the youngest Republican nominee for Virginia governor since former Gov. George Allen 20 years ago.

(3,003 posts)Cuccinelli was one of the leaders in the in the legal challenge to the health care reform law. If this asshole is elected he will do everything possible to hinder its implementation in Virginia in 2014.

(229 posts)I wonder how many of the Tea Party organizations from Virginia who received 501c4 tax exemption status will be funneling money into Mr. Cuccinelli's campaign?
How many of them will pool their money together or funnel it into a bigger tax exempt group for campaign commercials?

(182,271 posts)they skipped the primaries (people's vote anyone?) to lock up the Cooch.
We ran in to an ad from each candidate today (rainy day) - Terry, who I am generally not a fan of, had a very good ad. The Cooch looked uncomfortable and with heavy make-up.
