(16,926 posts)You could basically put either one on a three-legged mule and they'd win.

(20,866 posts)I saw the look on his face before the race went off. It was a look of DETERMINATION and I knew he was riding on a winner and so did Gary Stevens!
I have no way to bet on the horses where I live (luckily!) but wow, what a race it was indeed -- nothing like a wire to wire victory!!!

(130,724 posts)We watched it together, and enjoyed it even tho both his horse and mine (Verrazano) lost.
Husband passed away last week, funeral tomorrow and Tuesday, and as his Derby choice won the Preakness, I think I'll inform the gathered crowd of this 'victory.' May lighten the scene a bit.
Was very happy to hear of the win, but missed watching the race as doing family business at the time.

(130,724 posts)I'm the same, don't know what to say in similar situations, but fwiw we separated about 7 years ago, had some very bitter years between then and now, and fortunately things improved between us in recent months.
Yes, hope he RIP.
