SC Gov. Nikki Haley Appoints White Supremacist To Campaign Committee
Source: Fox News
The Southern Poverty Law Center on Wednesday accused South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley of appointing a white supremacist to her steering committee.
In February, the Republican governor announced she had formed the committee to explore her re-election options. Roan Garcia-Quintana of Greenville was listed as one of the 164 co-chairs.
The Anti-Defamation League has described Garcia-Quintana as a white supremacist and a well-known leader in the Council of Conservative Citizens.
The group openly opposes the immigration of non-European and non-Western peoples into the United States and condemns all efforts to mix the races of mankind. The Council of Conservative Citizens also believes the United States should not tolerate sexual licentiousness, homosexuality and other perversions, mixture of the races, pornography in all forms, and subversion of the authority of parents.

(8,462 posts)get to be the leader of a white supremacist group, and why would a white supremacist support Nikki Haley?
White Supremacy sure has changed since I was a kid. The white supremacists I remember from growing up in Georgia would never have considered either of them white.

Good morning Mr. Chairman and members of the committee, and thank you for providing me this opportunity to testify concerning the Elementary and Secondary Education Act's Title I, "Helping Disadvantaged Children Meet High Standards."
Allow me to say a few words about my background. I was born in Havana, Cuba and raised in Savannah, Georgia. I received my B.S. in mathematics from Armstrong State College, where I was also certified to teach mathematics in grades 7-12. Subsequently, I received my M.S. in probability and statistics from the University of South Carolina, going on to doctoral studies in applied statistics and educational testing and measurement. Most of my career has been in Research and Testing at the South Carolina Department of Education. I have also taught numerous mathematics courses at post secondary institutions. During 1981-86, I was deputy director of one of the major programs at the National Institute of Education. I am now the Title I Director for the Georgia Department of Educations Superintendent Linda Schrenko.

on edit: A white supremacist from Cuba supporting a governor of Indian descent doesn't sound right to me, but that term does get tossed about with abandon at times.

(8,462 posts)That would have made him more acceptable.

(101,146 posts)which would make him European, as far as he's concerned.
Supporting a politician of Indian descent can't fit in with those hate group views, though.

And Haley would have been beyond the pale.

(101,146 posts)It's true that some racists restrict themselves to "Northern European" or even just "Anglo-Saxon", but some think "white", which normally means "European". It allows them to claim a link with the Roman Empire, for instance, which appeals to fascists.

As for the goomer in question, considering that SC consistently ranks among the lowest of the low in educational test scores, using his time in that position on a resume seems kind of like The Wild Alaskan Dingbat citing her proximity to Canada as counting as credibility on foreign affairs.
