Anonymous took down cia.gov

At approximately 3:10 p.m. Eastern time one of twitter accounts related to the hackers' group announced "cia.gov DOWN. #UMAD?#Anonymous."
The CIA website became the latest victim in a series of attacks conducted by the elusive group of hackers against US law enforcement agencies and copyright holders. As RT reported earlier, Anonymous took credit for crashing the websites of the US Department of Homeland Security, which was quickly revived, and the FBI.
The CIA seems to be less prepared for fighting Anonymous than other agencies. If the work of dhs.gov was revived in mere minutes, the CIA's site was still down even hours after the attack. One of the twitter accounts affiliated with Anonymous explained the reasons of the attack: "We do it for the lulz," referring to the popular online abbreviation "for laughs."

There's a world of difference between the CIA website and hacking the CIA.

I even know how to deal with a DDOS attack. If the CIA can't do it, they REALLY need some website security.
They probably hired some kid to do it.... Then again, it was probably a .NET "programmer" who set up their site.

My point being, even if they had a private outfit running their website, it would be protected from a simple DDOS attack, if it was run by an outfit that was more than some kid working out of his or her parents' basement!
There are so many ways to protect against this, it's not funny. Anyone who sets up TCP/IP networks for a living knows how to do this. Take it from one!

investigate all the participants as fully as possible. They map out the attack to study it and learn from it. That is all.

Or, we'll hear everything about them. How do home-computers and laptops compete with whole floors of buildings filled with mainframes and the Ph.Ds that utilize them?
