Big Utah Gun Rights Advocate Arrested On Domestic Violence Charges

One of the faces of Utah's gun lobby was arrested on domestic violent charges earlier this week.
If Clark Aposhian, chair of the Utah Shooting Sports Council, is convicted, he would be forced to relinquish his arsenal of firearms, his concealed weapons permits and his concealed-carry instructor's license. He may also, according to the Salt Lake Tribune, have to step down from his chairman position.
Aposhian and his attorney say the domestic violence charges are baseless.
The gun rights advocate has been making headlines since the Sandy Hook shooting for leading concealed-weapons permit classes to help arm Utah teachers.

Hope he gets what he deserves.
The means to commit violence increases the potential to commit violence -- especially when the excuse for walking around armed is an unidentified, nebulous, imaginary bogeyman.

(95,243 posts)The whole 'law-abiding gun owner' line is in the same class as 'jumbo shrimp': the demands of their fantasy lives as heroic slayers of 'thugs' and resistors to 'tyranny' require them to adopt an attitude of 'bending the rules' and 'defying authorities' in the pinch when the gun is in hand. So their actual attitude to the law is not 'I will obey the law' but rather 'I will decide which laws I will obey', and yet still their own conviction they are righteous and law-abiding people allows them to feel they are not criminally inclined when they harbor the intent to break laws at will, and even believe that they are not criminals when they actually break laws.

(5,214 posts)Isn't Utah one of the states that recently passed a law stating that 'anyone upholding a federal law with regards to taking away any second amendment rights can be arrested'?
Anyway, it isn't as though the local FBI office is going to send an agent out to check if this Yahoo still has his guns.
