NRA money behind lawsuit challenging new Colo. gun control laws

Source: KDVR.com

DENVER — In Colorado Springs Tuesday night, some 800 people showed up at a fundraiser organized by the Independence Institute in support of its lawsuit challenging the state’s new gun control laws.

(snip)

But the lawsuit, which was filed earlier this month on behalf of 55 of Colorado’s 62 elected sheriffs, is mostly being funded not by grassroots donations but by the biggest Second Amendment rights group in the world:

The National Rifle Association.

Another "grassroots" effort brought to you by one of the largest contributors to campaigns for Republicans or against Democrats in existence.

In its right-wing campaign efforts alone, the NRA outspends the Club for Growth, Koch Industries and Wal-Mart -- and this is completely apart from its lobbying spending.

By any measure it is a completely bug-nuts knuckledragging conservative cesspool, built from the ground up to not merely give a voice to gun owners, but to work to elect more Republicans and fewer Democrats -- by a huge margin (74:1, if you're counting).

They're buying our Democracy with direct donations in excess of $1 million annually EACH from companies like Smith & Wesson, Beretta, Ruger, and nearly every other manufacturer of arms and ammunition on the planet. Plus $21 million per year in ad sales for its print magazine.

"Grassroots" my ass.

With every $35 donated, they inch the NRA ever further toward reason and sanity. Not unlike the bird who flies a thousand miles to peck at a granite mountain....

The NRA is the mouthpiece for the guns and armaments industry. They don't actually believe in the 2nd Amendment or a person's right to "bear arms" (whatever the frig that means). They are slutty whores for the gun manufacturers. They get some money and a sloppy kiss for the effort. They are the worst kind of prostitutes that exist.
