Chuck Hagel takes questions from the ranks in Hawaii

HONOLULU It was a muted but multicolored sea of camouflage as several hundred military personnel from across the service branches gathered Thursday in a hangar at Hickam Field to listen to Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel.
Dressed casually in slacks and a short sleeve shirt for the tropical weather, Hagel stood before an F-22 Raptor, a stealth fighter jet, as he delivered brief remarks and then took questions.
One young naval officer wanted to know how the Pentagon is responding to the rising tide of cyberattacks.
Hagel noted that that is one of the few areas of the budget where the administration has sought an increase in spending. He talked about the dire threat posed by cyberattacks and the difficulty of responding when it is unclear what country or entity launched the attack.
