Massachusetts: Joseph Kennedy III to Announce House Bid Thursday
Joseph Kennedy III, the son of former Rep. Joe Kennedy (D-Mass.) and grandson of the late Sen. Robert Kennedy (D-N.Y.), will announce his bid for Congress in the Bay States 4th district on Thursday, a campaign source confirmed to Roll Call.
Kennedy announced an exploratory committee last month and just about cleared the Democratic primary field for the open seat, currently held by retiring Rep. Barney Frank (D).

(17 posts)Has anyone thought this through? The shrewd move would have been to make Kennedy Product (tm) chief of staff for someone else's campaign. Of course, the field is now closed to better-qualified candidates.
This candidacy will provide acres of maneuvering room for Scott Brown and crates of ammunition for the nutcase right, and it is far from clear that he can win the election. Blundering into these hard lessons is why the Massachusetts Democrats lead the league in errors.

As for it being "far from clear that he can win the election," it was noted in Reply #2 that Roll Call declared it a pretty safe bet that he'll win:

The younger Kennedy is buoyed by the fact that 73 percent of those polled in the district have a favorable opinion of the Kennedy family.
As expected, the entry of Kennedy into the race just about cleared the Democratic field.
Roll Call rates the race Safe Democratic. Bielat lost to retiring Rep. Barney Frank (D) in 2010 by more than 10 points.
It looks like the seat could be even safer with Kennedy than with Barney Frank, and that's saying a lot.

But I'm not sure why I should trust this Kennedy spawn. Time will tell...

(190 posts)The problem with the Obama win, was we lost TWO... three? right off the bat with Biden, Obama, and Clinton.
then there was the Gov of Arizona, blue and gone from her post.
Honestly Obama left our party weakened, which contributed to the problems we had getting things passed, and why we lost so much ground in '10.
I don't want to see this kid anywhere near high level politics for at least 1 FULL senate term, preferably 2.
And if he does run for even higher office, I hope it's at a time the dem's can afford to loose his seat in congress.
