NCGOP seeks ouster of UNC-TV host
Source: WRAL/CBS
RALEIGH, N.C. The North Carolina Republican Party is calling on UNC-TV to break its ties with host and columnist D.G. Martin.
Martin is the longtime host of the popular "NC Bookwatch" program on the statewide public television station. He's also a longtime political columnist whose left-leaning columns appear weekly in publications around the state. The two are separate ventures.
In his most recent column, Martin seems to compare supporters of Republican legislative leaders to apologists for the recently ousted Egyptian government and for the Nazi regime in Germany.
The column in question is titled "Egypt, Nazi Germany, and North Carolina," datelined July 29.

(256 posts)and talk about the government as jack-booted thugs, but correctly call these right wing nuts Fascists, (jingoistic militarism, unfettered corporatism, and conservative fanaticism) and they cry little whiny babies. The truth must really sting these jackoffs.

(3,827 posts)State Rep. Mike Stone is one of those cry babies that you are speaking of. Earlier this year he silenced his critics at a local community college. All Stone did was contact the President of the college and boom they were off the air.

(1,389 posts)I agree with Mr. Martin. The analogy is apt. The white boy power structure can't take the heat but the miscreants can sure dish it out. It is an epidemic of mental health disease I say! As the Beatles sang, ".....cry baby cry....."

(7,822 posts)They are without doubt, and sadly are insensitive to voter input even from their own people.
Art Pope has been culling thinking Republicans from the NCGOP for some time. The current GOP legislators are vicious thugs who only lack black uniforms and jackboots to properly indicate their outlook. They are completely out of touch with ordinary voters from their own party and seem driven to extremes that have left many North Carolina citizens of both parties shocked and breathless.
