White House warns some US embassies could remain closed for another month

Obama administration downplays connection between current scare and ongoing debate over NSA surveillance in the US.

The White House has warned the terror alert which forced US embassy closures across the Middle East and Africa could continue for another four weeks as it revealed its intelligence indicated an ongoing threat "from now until the end of August".

If there is a terrorist threat then why wouldn't the terrorists just wait until they open up again? Its not like they have to go off to some scheduled vacation.

Terrorism is what terrorists do when they are on vacation from their day jobs.

If they don't get it done before school starts they have to wait for the Christmas Holidays.

Great news! Let's close these centers of CIA spying, whitewashing and Big Business Hand Outs. As I said to a diplomat who was serving in Afghanistan and home for leave and who said: "Things are getting better in Afghanistan". I told him: "You mean they are all dead and we can get all the minerals? Don't think we are so stupid here that we don't know what you are up to. If you were an honorable person you would quit and get out. Do you see all these homeless hungry people in town while we spend money on your salary? I suppose he turned me into some agency, but it was a great moment for this decades long Peace activist.

so they can upgrade the computer systems.

It may take at least a month for the current new tech roll-out.
