US withdraws diplomats from Lahore consulate in Pakistan

Source: BBC

The US has ordered all non-essential government personnel to leave its consulate in the Pakistani city of Lahore.

A senior State Department official said the move was in response to a "credible threat" to the consulate.

US personnel remaining in Lahore should limit non-essential travel within the country, the official said.

On Thursday, the US issued a travel warning advising all US citizens to defer non-essential travel to Pakistan.

I've lived overseas for almost 10 years and seen the changes in security take place. While here in Asia it's not a big deal, in the Middle East more caution is needed.

9. What 'total ME war' are you imagining?

It's fair more believable that a group is planning some form of attack in Pakistan - a country where only yesterday 30 people were killed on live TV in a suicide bombing at a policeman's funeral, and where there have been 4 attacks on US consulates or embassies in the past 12 years (among 15 around the world) than a 'total ME war' appears out of nowhere. A war against whom? The whole Middle East? Just for shits and giggles?

It is not 'naive' to doubt your supposition, which you put forward without any reasoning. It's common sense to doubt it.
