Scott Brown’s Brother Accused Of Impersonating Officer, Commandeering Boat

Source: CBS

OLD LYME, CT (CBS) – The brother of former Massachusetts U.S. Senator Scott Brown was arrested Thursday night in Connecticut on a number of charges, including impersonating a police officer.

Police responding to reports of a man with a gun found Bruce W. Browne, 46, of Wolcott, Connecticut driving a blue Crown Victoria with what appeared to be a disc and antennas mounted on the trunk along with “hide-away” lights.

Browne was wearing military-style pants, according to police. Inside the car in plain view, officers say they found three loaded 9 mm handguns, a black nylon duty belt with two sets of handcuffs, a police baton, 12 fully-loaded magazines with a total of 101 hollow point and 102 ball 9 mm bullets.

Browne also allegedly had a black tactical bullet proof vest with the word “POLICE” embroidered on the front and back with a silver metal TSA badge attached.

than the brothers of Bill Clinton or Hillary Clinton or Jimmy Carter. There are few here who dislike Scott Brown more than I did, but if it is fair to hold him responsible for this - the same could go for the Clintons - and I never thought that fair. In Brown's case, his family was genuinely unstable and by his own account parts of his childhood were horrible. It is not all that surprising that a relative is in trouble for something. (I also suspect this is a step brother who he may not have even grown up with as the only sibling he ever mentioned was a sister.)

He appears to have been arrested in accordance with the law, and the article makes no mention that the former senator was involved in the incident itself, or in any attempt to use his connections or influence to assist his brother.

It reminds me of the media focus on Roger Clinton during the Clinton administration. Yes, he was "troubled," but it had nothing to do with the running of the government and no improprieties were alleged concerning the president.

We have to focus on the important issues, both internationally, nationally and locally, and not be distracted by the antics of the siblings of former politicians.

And that was true even though Roger was an "issue" that concerned a sitting president, not a former senator.

Just because some republicans were (and continue to be) short-sighted idiots, I see no reason to emulate such conduct many years later.

Look, I understand the schadenfreude. Scott Brown is a despised political opponent, and therefore some revel in his (sibling's) discomfort.

I simply try to be better than that.

For someone with very few posts and so little time here at DU, your post may be sincere and well intentioned. You may be the most sincere person on this board. However, as I was schooled by some good folks here at DU when I came on board, you may want to seriously consider the content of future posts. Some here might confuse you with an FR troll. Otherwise, expect to get flamed, develop a thick skin and stand by your convictions. I would suggest that you be calm in your responses if you plan to stick around for any length of time. Yes there are some around here that are trolls and they will try to drive you away from this place of discussion. I do respect your opinion and you make a valid point.

Be cool,
RR

I have strong views, just like many on the forum. I try to be civil and friendly, but will not shy away from disputes.

I'm a trial attorney in NYC. The level of acrimony here is generally more mild than I generally receive from my own clients and opposing counsel. I would be surprised if there isn't any "heat" in a political discussion.

I will always advocate both my liberal view and what's best for the Democratic Party.

I'm also a long-time reader, but only recently joined and started commenting due to having some free time and my particular interests in the Zimmerman trial and misery that is facing Detroit.

However, once you begin to personally engage in the forum discussions, the allure to continue is so seductive . . .

and I agree with the post as to why this should even be news to smear a politician (any politician). You cannot control who your relatives are and how they behave (with the possible exception of your children).

We are better than that.

kidnapping and possibly murder.

These tactics have been used in the past to kidnap and rape women, then murder them to keep using the tactic.

That is SERIOUS mental illness, the kind you worry runs in families.

Presidential siblings have had problems in the past, and their actions have bought attention onto their powerful brothers as a result. Up until now, this has mostly been simple embarrassment. Provided no bodies turn up in basements, this will blow over.

Though, if it were a Dem, it would be fodder for Fox News for decades.

UPDATE - Love this part:

It is not clear why Browne spells his name differently than the former senator.

Because he is stupid enough to think that was all he needed to do to "disguise" himself.

Scott is currently exploring running for governor or mass. If any of this shit blows back on him, that would be a good thing. If, for example, it turns out that his fuck up brother got some assistance getting access to a TSA badge from the Brown organization, that would be most excellent.

Classmates: Mitt Romney Impersonated Police Officer In High School And College

"GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney has long contended that he's a good-humored practical jokester who is only misunderstood as stiff and over-programmed.

"As a high school student, Romney's mischievous disposition was frequently on display. Classmates told the Washington Post in a piece published last month that this sometimes led him into unpleasant territory, such as the time he and a group of friends pinned down a screaming boy -- who was presumed to be gay -- and gave him a "hack job" haircut with a pair of scissors.

"In another questionable display of his inner prankster, it now appears that Romney was also reportedly fascinated with police uniforms, which he sometimes put on to carry out elaborate practical jokes."
