Volusia fires beach officer for racial messages (Trayvon Martin)
Source: Daytona Beach News Journal
A Volusia County Beach Safety officer accused of sending insensitive racial messages at the end of last months Trayvon Martin trial was fired Friday for unprofessional conduct or what county officials called horrible judgment made worse during a racially charged atmosphere.
Todd Snipes, 45, a Volusia lifeguard for 24 years and a law enforcement officer for 15, engaged in behavior that threatens the respect and trust of the community and jeopardizes the perception that the department enforces the law fairly, even-handedly and without bias, Department of Public Protection Director George Recktenwald wrote in Snipes notice of dismissal.
Reached Friday night, Snipes referred all questions to his attorney, Jason Harr, who could not be contacted.
Snipes messages included a Facebook post the night after George Zimmermans acquittal that read: Another thug gone. Pull up your pants and be respectful. Bye bye thug r.i.p.

And that's how they think/talk??
Fucking sickening.

(2,397 posts)...the tea party is racist...just to see what she says. Can't wait to call her bluff. Heard her other night on phone about Obama. Disgusting conversation to say the least. Didn't use "N" word, but still a disgusting phone conversation with whoever was on other side of call. At least I thought it was not appropriate.

(429 posts)Throughout this country, there is a certain type they are looking for when searching for police officers. This officer probably had a long history of racist behavior. Police Officer is one of those occupations like priest. It attracts deviants. And you can usually act out your deviancy without repercussions. In the case of a police officer, you can beat, rape, maim, and kill, LEGALLY!
