Rep. Steve Stockman Invites ‘Obama’ Rodeo Clown to Texas

Source: ABC

He’s been back in Congress for less than a year, but already Rep. Steve Stockman has generated a collection of headlines that many veteran lawmakers would take an entire career to produce – and now he’s extended an invitation to a controversial rodeo performer who came under fire for his act in an Obama mask.

...snip...

An unabashed proponent of the Second Amendment, Stockman has threatened to impeach President Obama if he enacts gun control measures by executive order. For Independence Day, he even held a raffle to give away a free Bushmaster AR-15 rifle.

Since taking office, he has ruffled some feathers in Washington by perpetuating conspiracy theories about President Obama’s citizenship, stoking so-called “birthers” who are not convinced that the president’s U.S. birth certificate is authentic.

In his latest publicity stunt, Stockman has invited to perform at a rodeo in Texas’ 36th District a rodeo clown who created a stir for donning a mask of President Obama while sporting an upside down broomstick attached to his backside at an event in Missouri last Saturday.

Presumably, Boehner is helpless to reign the nutcases in.

Yep, you were right. I'd only heard the expression from Bugs Bunny cartoons. I thought it was a reference to a cookie or Bugs' quirky turn on the word "moron". Well, now I know.

The rodeo announcer seemed to know exactly what was to occur. Did the superintendent of schools (rodeo announcer) bring the mask and set the script?

The clowns are employees , wranglers with a job, part of the show.

Reason I mention is that the electorate there is almost certainly hard-core rightwing, with a few scattered Dem outliers.

Not sure though and would like to hear resident Missourians weigh in.

Is Steve Stockman a committed crackpot, or just a hapless goofball?
By Jim Simmon Thursday, Jun 22 1995

...
Unfortunately, Steve Stockman is a regular guy with an ideology, one that he seems to have pulled together from whatever he's been told or handed. He has said he ran for Congress because he was "mad" at the government. Anger, of course, can be a useful and clarifying emotion. But there's a point where legitimate argument over the powers of the Federal Reserve or the right to bear arms or the government's intrusion into so many corners of our lives blurs into the rank, teeth-grinding weirdness now spinning madly into the mainstream from the far reaches of the shortwave bands -- the International Jewish Bankers-Knights Templar-United Nations-whatever-conspiracy that killed Vince Foster and carried out the bombing in Oklahoma City to take away our guns and makes us slaves of the New World Order. Steve Stockman seems to have had difficulty discerning where that point is, but it's anybody's guess whether he's a truly committed crackpot or simply a goofball opportunist who's ignorant of history and doesn't understand the consequences of what he says.

What a lot of these guys hate more than anything is the fact the President of the United States (2 terms at that) is an African American. During this whole "Party of No" thing, I'd been thinking it was because Obama was a Democrat, but I am now convinced it's the color of his skin that gets under their skin.

Donny Ferguson is Steve Stockman's communications director. He is the aide who handles Stockman's social media accounts. He is on the receiving end of several dubious payments from Loudoun County, Virginia, supervisor Eugene Delgaudio.

The Texas Republican, though, largely doesn’t tweet from his official feed, leaving it to his communications director, Donny Ferguson.

Rep. Steve Stockman's Facebook spammed by liberals

WASHINGTON – Republican Rep. Steve Stockman of Friendswood has deleted his Facebook page, blaming “liberal” spam featuring poop emoticons and inappropriate sexual references.

The Facebook page was deleted sometime last night, but a campaign Facebook page remains up and running. Stockman also has a congressional Twitter account and campaign Twitter account.

Donny Ferguson, the Stockman aide who handles social media accounts for the freshman conservative, said his office used the now-deleted Facebook page to reach out to children and didn’t want them to see inappropriate content.

More Delgaudio money laundering

Supervisor Eugene Delgaudio (R-Sterling), as we know, is now at last under (extremely slow) investigation for using his county office, staff, and budget to carry on his very lucrative trade in outside political lobbying activity — really pseudo-political money-generating that earns him $150,000+ a year by rattling the cages of homophobic rich right wing donors with mailings warning that e.g. (this is a direct quote) “The Radical Homosexuals infiltrating the United States Congress have a plan: Indoctrinate an entire generation of American children with pro-homosexual propaganda and eliminate traditional values from American society.”

Delgaudio’s former aide Donny Ferguson, having learned at the knee of the master, as it were, has been running his own similar pseudo-lobby “American Tradition Partnership”; for a while, until they caught him at it, he was operating it right out of Delgaudio’s office himself.

However, Delgaudio is still enjoying a very cozy relationship with his protege, funneling county expense funds to Donny on a regular basis, supposedly for preparing his newsletters” for him. County budget records show repeated payments of $1,000 or $1,250 to Donny Ferguson and Associates from Delgaudio for “designing” his newsletter; $500 for “designing a postcard”; $1,250 for “designing artwork for postcards.” (See sample below.)

Nice work if you can get it!

It’s against the law for groups like American Tradition Partnership (a “social welfare non-profit” — right) to coordinate political activity with political candidates; it’s under investigation in Montana for violating that. It would be interesting to know what Delgaudio is really buying with these payments to Ferguson . . .
