Royals’ Miguel Tejada suspended 105 games by MLB for amphetamines

Source: Kansas City Star

DETROIT — Royals infielder Miguel Tejada was suspended for 105 games Saturday afternoon after twice testing positive for amphetamines in violation of Major League Baseball’s drug policy.

Major League Baseball confirmed the suspension prior to the Royals’ game against the Detroit Tigers at Comerica Park. Tejada chose not to appeal the suspension but cited a medical condition as the reason for taking the banned substance.

“I apologize to my teammates, the Royals’ organization and to the Kansas City fans,” he said in a statement released through the players’ union. “I have a medical condition that requires medication to treat.

“I took that medication while re-applying for a Therapeutic Use Exemption. Under the requirements of the Joint Drug Program, I made a mistake in doing so.”

they can not be "fired" unless its written into their contracts that the contract is void if they are caught using drugs. I would expect to see that written into everyone's contracts in the future but its not right now so there's nothing the Clubs can do, other than release them and pay them for the full contract.

As for putting them in jail, just what we need more people in jail for using drugs.

Don't know - don't particularly trust most MLB players, but it is possible...
On edit: The story says Adderall. If he does have health issues I don't have a problem with him taking it.

MLB, however, didn't renew his permission to take the medicine in April.

The Fourth Amendment protects you from having the government drug test you (with limited exceptions), but the only thing that protects you from an employer is a collective bargaining agreement.
